A Superb, Perfect, Western !! - c.f.
"Blow By Blow" - The 7th Album from Jeff Beck - Recorded in 1974, Released in '75 - An instrumental album, it peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified platinum by the RIAA. His guitar-slinging contributions to the Yardbirds having dwarfed those of Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page, Mrs. Beck's bad boy spent the next several years playing blues-rock (the Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart), soul-rock (the second edition of that band), and leading a power trio. Then, he made this all-instrumental album, which was a huge 1975 success. Produced by George Martin, the nine-song session finds Beck fronting a keyboards-bass-drums outfit, augmented by some tastefully unobtrusive string arrangements. Call it a jazz-fusion album at your own risk. While Beck's playing is less in-your-face than his previous efforts, all the fierce attack, thick tone, microtonal bends, distortion, feedback, vibrato, sustain, sonic hoodoo, and rhythmic and harmonic creativity that the man's fans have come to know and love can be heard here. "Freeway Jam" boasts the most memorable melody and thus remains a Classic Rock staple to this day. "Cause We've Ended As Lovers"--written by Stevie Wonder - is Beck's gorgeous tribute to one of his own guitar-heroes, the now-deceased Roy Buchanan....
If you're a Blues Lover, Like me,
"Cadillac Records" is an incredible, Awesome Film
You ABSOLUTELY MUST SEE !!...
Mick & the Boys
Released in 1977 -"Slowhand" was also a nickname of Eric Clapton...Given to him by Giorgio Gomelsky - filmmaker, impresario, music manager, songwriter (as Oscar Rasputin) and record producer. He owned the Crawdaddy Club where The Rolling Stones were house band, and he was involved with their early management. He hired The Yardbirds as a replacement and managed them. He was also their producer from the beginning through 1966.
In 2003, the album was ranked number 325 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The album artwork is an image of Clapton playing a G Major chord on this signature guitar Blackie. The image continues on the back of the album showing the body of the guitar. This album contained three of his most popular singles; the bluesy "Cocaine" by Oklahoman; J.J. Cale, the ballad "Wonderful Tonight", and the country-flavoured #3 U.S. hit "Lay Down Sally", as well as other songs that became Clapton classics on their own like "The Core" w/ Marcy Levy on incredible backing vocals, and "Next Time You See Her" - Now with a more low-key touring band that included Carl Radle, Miami guitarist George Terry, keyboardist Dick Sims, drummer Jamie Oldaker and vocalists Yvonne Elliman & Marcy Levy (better known as Marcella Detroit who later recorded in the 1980s pop duo "Shakespear's Sister")
Bad Company is an English hard rock supergroup founded in 1973, consisting of band members from "Free" (Paul Rodgers, Simon Kirke), Mott the Hoople (Mick Ralphs), and King Crimson (Boz Burrell). Bad Company enjoyed great success throughout the 1970s. They were managed by Peter Grant, who had also guided Led Zeppelin to massive success. This was the Original Bad Company sound,...as the band was later formed into a different band with a completely different sound,...and went on to release a few more really good - guitar driven - rock albums, including "Holy Water" & "Here Comes Trouble" led by & lead vocals by: ex Ted Nugent vocalist: Brian Howe.
